Child Behavior

Educating a child and introducing him/her to the rules of courtesy or daily tasks can be difficult. Indeed, each child in their individuality has their own personality and a relation to independence of their own. In this Child Behavior category, we offer solutions to help children take care of their environment and themselves, while respecting the people around them.

Hygiene, good manners, courtesy, tidying and order, everything is thought out so that the child becomes perfectly autonomous and responsible without having to rely on an adult systematically. Thanks to simple and realistic exercises and activities, children evolve at their own pace without having the impression of being forced to integrate restrictive life rules.

To overcome child behavior problems, nothing is more effective than to rely on their natural attraction to mimicry without forcing them to imitate the adult down to the very last detail. The point is to place them at the heart of the action by allowing them to appropriate each movement. In fact, the goal is to make all activity fun through the material used, as well as to let children be in control of their movements in order to learn better.

In addition to refining concentration, this process develops children’s logical thinking while allowing them to find their place in society as members in their own right.

There are 4 main areas to explore to improve the behavior of a child:

  1. The Care of The Person
  2. Care of The Environment
  3. Grace and Courtesy
  4. Control of Movement

Preparing a snack, to eat without getting messy, getting dressed on one's own, or washing one's hands are typical of the first category.

Cleaning up after themselves, bending their clothes or set the table is more about the child’s environment, while walking on a line or being quiet are activities related to Control of Movement and are aimed to work on behaving oneself in public.

Finally, say hello, introduce oneself, say thank you, to not interrupt someone’s speech and offering help naturally are aspects of the child behavior related to politeness and courtesy.

We regularly prepare articles to improve child behavior in society and especially for themselves.

Thus, you will find written resources about activities to develop human qualities following what children can learn in Montessori schools.

Another example of our articles is our tips and guidelines about how children can develop their concentration by sewing buttons, which is also useful to their daily life.

Moreover, you can read some of our articles to know more about particular situations like how to encourage a child to tidy up after themselves.
